ARTIST BACKGROUND
A Native Californian, Les was raised in Saugus during the 1930's and 1940's, by his cowboy father and stepmother. As a young boy, observing and listening intently to the many stories of the ranch hands; Les recorded life around him. He now captures the good ol' days by documenting the faces and surroundings of the hard working men and women who pioneered this great land. Les Ray served two years in the U.S. Army, worked for the City of Thousand Oaks, was married for forty-six years, until his wife's death; and raised three sons. Only since his retirement, has he begun painting on a full time scale. He has since re-married, and is now residing in Pine Mountain, California, (Frazier Park Area) where he devotes all his time to his love of painting. Les Ray not had any formal training, and one glance at this Artist's work, will show he is truly gifted.
